A service template holds the shape of a service you hold over and over — its name, its time, and the duties it needs filled. Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and a midweek study are three templates, each with its own duty list.

Different services can need different duties
Duties are defined once for the congregation and then attached per service template, so a Sunday morning service can need a coordinator, ushers, and a livestream operator while a midweek study needs two of the three.
Each duty carries its own instructions, which travel with the assignment into the member’s email — so the person doing it for the first time is not relying on somebody remembering to tell them.
One email sends every member their schedule
When the month is planned, CongreGreat sends each member a personal email listing only their own assignments — the date, the service, the duty, and its instructions. Nobody has to read a grid to find their name.
The same works for a single service when something changes late. Members confirm straight from the email, so the schedule shows who has actually seen it rather than who was merely written down.
On the day of the service
The coordination screen for a service lists everyone assigned and lets whoever is running the morning tick people off as they arrive, separating those confirmed present from those still outstanding.
If somebody doesn’t show, they can be reassigned on the spot from the same screen, and the change is recorded straight away, without anyone leaving the building to send an email.

Planning the services is half the work; deciding who serves at them is the other half. Questions about planning services
How far ahead can we plan services?
As far ahead as you like. Services are generated a month at a time from your service templates, and there is nothing stopping you from generating several months in advance. Planning the coming month and sending its schedule in one pass is the rhythm the month overview is built around.
Can we reuse the same order of service every week?
Yes — that is what a service template is for. Set up Sunday morning once, with its time and its duty list, and every Sunday morning is generated from it. When something about the service changes permanently, change the template and the services generated afterwards follow it.
How do members find out what they’re doing?
CongreGreat emails each member their own assignments — for one service or for the whole month — with the duty’s instructions included. Assignment texts can go out as well. Members confirm with one tap on the link in the message, so you can see who has actually acknowledged their duty.
Can different services have different duties?
Yes. Duties are attached to each service template, so a Sunday morning service and a midweek study can need entirely different lists. Members set preferences per duty and per service, which means someone can serve on Sunday mornings only without ever being scheduled midweek.
